Q. Some people believe that a lot of research is a waste of time and money. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

It is true that scientific research plays a significant role in the modern world. However, some segments of the population believe that this is simply a waste of our precious resources - time and money.  I partially agree with this point of view.

On the one hand, there are enormous advantages to experimental research. First of all, the trials brought about many unprecedented changes for the benefit of humanity. There were many deadly diseases from which people were dying at an alarming rate. But with accurate scientific research results, treatment of such diseases becomes possible and hence they prove to be a benefit to society. For example, the recent attack of the Covid-19 virus has killed a million people. Residents around the world can now fight the pandemic only thanks to drugs such as Pfizer, Covishield, Covaxine. Medicines are undoubtedly the result of experimentation. Moreover, the research has helped to increase the fertility of the soil which in turn has revolutionised agriculture productivity. Thus, it is irrefutable to say that scientific research is a waste of time-period and funds.

On the other hand, false experimental results lead society to believe that it is a waste of both valuable resources. Sometimes, after lengthy research involving a team of scientists and various expensive scientific equipment, the results turn out to be incorrect. This makes people and the government regret it as the finances could be spent on other serious social issues such as environmental issues.

In conclusion, I firmly believe that although scientific research may lead to incorrect results, it is still an integral part of life. He takes a huge part in the development of the Universe.
