Q. Art classes such as painting or drawing are important for children's development so it should be compulsory in high school. Do you agree or disagree?

There is a common belief that teaching subjects such as drawing and painting is important for children's development. Therefore, they should be compulsory in secondary schools. This essay will provide reasons and explanations to answer the question, why do I completely agree with this statement?

First of all, there is scientific evidence that a child's brain can develop through logical thinking as well as emotional thinking, and art activities can help students think emotionally. In addition, incorporating arts activities into the high school curriculum can help students relieve stress. For example, students face enormous academic pressure every day when solving difficult problems in mathematics and physics. Thus, art classes can help them relax for an hour since they are not related to science. So, in addition to developing the brain emotionally, art lessons can help teens free their minds from the mental effort of memorizing every scientific formula they learn every day.

Secondly, teaching students about painting and drawing on a daily basis can help them understand whether they have the innate ability to excel in art. Therefore, it can provide an alternative career path for these students. For example, when children repeatedly fail in core subjects such as chemistry, biology or mathematics, they tend to lose confidence in themselves, and if they succeed in subjects such as painting and drawing, then there is an opportunity to regain their lost confidence. Thus, students may have the option of pursuing a career in the arts if such activities are made compulsory in their higher education program.

In conclusion, learning to paint and draw is essential for children's development. Therefore, they should be made compulsory in the secondary school curriculum and I completely agree with this idea based on the reasons and examples given.
