Q. Many people believe that university students should study a full range of subjects, instead of some specific subjects. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this viewpoint? 

Some people advocate teaching university students a wide range of subjects rather than a few specialized subjects. I tend to agree with this view because I believe that teaching many different subjects makes higher education students better prepared for their careers, life, and society.

To begin with, a university education is not intended to produce only qualified professionals who will earn large salaries. Rather, it should be aimed at creating enlightened and knowledgeable people who will lead countries in the future. That is why a doctor should study the history of a nation so that he never forgets that his main goal is to serve the nation and not to earn money. Likewise, if a software engineer does not have accounting knowledge, the financial sector will have a hard time finding useful software for their automation.

Moreover, the university plays a crucial role in shaping the overall development of students, striving to develop not only their academic knowledge, but also their personal and professional qualities. In this endeavor, the inclusion of a variety of subjects further strengthens the foundation on which students build their future. By offering a wide range of courses covering various disciplines, universities provide students with a well-rounded education while developing their intellectual curiosity, critical thinking skills and adaptability.

In conclusion, studying fewer subjects at university may seem to have some advantages, but it does not serve the true purpose of university education, which is to develop leaders and an enlightened generation. Therefore, universities are expected to introduce a range of subjects for most majors to reap maximum benefits.
