Q. The best way to reduce traffic accidents is to raise the age limit for younger drivers and to lower the age limit for elderly ones. Do you agree or disagree?

It is now argued that the most important way to reduce the number of road traffic accidents is to raise the driving license age for teenagers and lower it for older people. Although I fully agree with this rule, this essay will present my arguments using appropriate illustrations.

Firstly, teenagers should be prohibited from driving until they are twenty-five. This is due to the fact that before this age young people drink heavily, which leads to loss of consciousness while driving. As a result, they tend to commit many road accidents without even realizing their behavior. To illustrate, a study conducted by the Lebanese University found that the majority of road accidents are the result of drunken children driving their parents' cars. Therefore, it is extremely important to prohibit young people from driving.

Secondly, old people should have a personal driver who will be responsible for their cars. In other words, older adults may lose both their visual and auditory senses, which will have a huge negative impact on how they use their personal vehicle and increase the number of traffic accidents. A prime example here is a study conducted by the American Hospital in Beirut, which showed that a huge number of older people have lost control of their movements while driving because they are constantly taking medications. To summarize, grandparents should not drive while they are taking various medications.

In conclusion, due to the unpredictable behavior of both young and old people, laws must change the age range of drivers who must be responsible for their lives and the lives of others. Moreover, I believe that this should be treated as the priority of all problems.
