Q. Some believe that the Olympic games help bring people from different nations together, while others claim that holding the Olympics wastes money which could be used for important issues. Discuss both sides and give your own opinion.

The Olympic Games are held every four years and are open to people from all over the world. However, some people may argue that these events have no significance and the money invested in them could be used to solve other troubling problems. In my opinion, preparation for the Olympic Games is quite expensive, but beneficial for the country that organizes them.

The main reason for holding Olympic tournaments is to attract visitors and players from all over the world. This will benefit the country as its financial position will improve. For example, the government receives more profit from ticket sales for tournaments around the world. This will improve the economic position of the country on a larger scale than the money spent on preparation. Consequently, the population will have a high standard of living.

On the other hand, some people believe that these events are very costly to afford. They prefer to use their money effectively and efficiently. For example, in under-developing countries where people have to struggle for a living might find it irresponsible if the government invest in these games rather than providing them with a better quality of life. More concerning issues such as poverty or malnutrition could have been alleviated if the money is injected into the economy and helping out the poor.

To conclude, it can be said that the Olympic Games benefit the country that has the means to host them. I believed that this would have a positive impact on the tourism industry. However, the government should not rely solely on these developments to maintain a good standard of living.
