Q.
Many criminals commit further crimes after they have been released from prison. What do you think are the causes of this? What possible solutions can you suggest?
People who commit a crime often tend to repeat committing crimes. This can be due to poverty and low socioeconomic status. Some possible solutions to resolve this problem involve individual criminals and the authorities.
To
commence with, it is clear that low economic status is associated with higher crime rates compared to people with average or high economic status. Let's take a thief for example. People living in poverty cannot afford to buy food, so in order to survive they have to steal some food from stores. Even though they are caught by the police and punished, they find it difficult to manage their lives without committing crimes. Additionally, poverty can make people mentally unstable, leading to child abuse and domestic violence. These crimes are sometimes uncontrollable and inevitable by the criminals themselves.
On
the other hand, not only individuals, but also governments have a significant role to play in preventing the emergence of these criminals. As for governments, they should provide more support to residents with poor economic status. For example, one smart solution could be to increase the number of affordable public apartments to help them reduce their daily expenses. In addition to this type of government subsidy, each person must also take a step to solve their own problems. They may be a psychologist or counselor to improve their mental health and change harmful behaviors.
