Q.
Some people believe that it is possible for a country to be economically successful and have a clean environment. Others argue that these two aims are not compatible. Discuss both views and give your opinion.
In today's world, sustainable economic growth is an important criterion for governments to improve the situation in their countries, such as environmental problems. Meanwhile, some people have the opposite opinion. In this essay I will look at both sides and present my point of view.
To begin with, countries with good economic conditions could use innovative ways to create better systems that do not harm the environment. For example, they can invest in green or renewable energy technologies that are produced from natural resources and do not deplete when used, such as solar, wind, hydropower or biofuels. Through the use of the above systems, the use of fossil fuels will be gradually reduced and ultimately our living environment will become clean.
On the other hand, some believe that countries are forced to use fossil fuels to grow their economies. The driving force of every country is its development industry. To achieve this goal, they have no choice but to consume traditional fuels. Non-renewable fuels can produce huge amounts of carbon dioxide or chemical spills that pollute the air or water supplies. For example, China has one of the worst air quality in the world. It is also one of the largest emitters of greenhouse gases, and industrial activity never seems to end.
