Q. The charts below show the density of people in 2003, and the change of population from 2003 to 2005.
The given bar charts illustrate the number of people per square kilometer in 2003, and the percentage change in population between 2003 and 2005, in six countries. A cursory glance at the graphs is enough to make it clear that although Australia and Canada had the least population in 2003, the increase in population in these two countries was the maximum, among the given six countries.
Japan had the maximum density of population (338/sq km), whereas Australia and Canada had the least (3) number of people per square km. in 2003. The UK, Italy and Sweden had 243, 191, and 20 people/sq km respectively in that year.
From 2003 to 2005, Australia’s and Canada’s populations grew by 1.42% and 1.06% respectively. Japan, the UK and Italy also saw a moderate growth in percentage by 0.35, 0.25, and 0.11 respectively. It is interesting to see that the population of Sweden decreased by 0.1% in those two years.
