Q. Some people think that climate change could have a negative effect on business.  Other people think that climate change could create more business opportunities. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

The issue of whether the global climate will have a detrimental impact on businesses entity has generated mixed opinions in recent years. Some argue that changing weather patterns can cause irreparable damage to enterprises and send international commerce into a vicious circle, while others argue that we can look for potential opportunities in these changing climate events. In my opinion, the prospects in this case far outweigh the negative consequences, since organizations can take advantage of the chance to modernize their products and develop new industries.

Changing weather conditions can certainly cause harm to a company or industry. For example, climate change such as the greenhouse effect can accelerate global warming, which can lead to poor agricultural yields; Desertification requires local businesses to rely more on seawater desalination than on groundwater, at the expense of rising production costs; extreme weather conditions and natural disasters lead to emergency shutdowns of factories and department stores, resulting in additional costs for the company. All of these scenarios pose a threat to our trade and result in a sluggish economy.

However, we must not lose sight of the bright side of the ever-changing climate, as it is a tool for change in business. In terms of product research and development, companies will focus on new demands related to climate conditions. For example, water shortages will encourage the development of water purification systems in homes and offices. Online sales are more likely to dominate retail and become mainstream as it will maximize the avoidance of any extreme weather conditions that may occur in brick and mortar stores while companies ensure production costs are kept down.

In conclusion, while the business world may suffer from the negative impacts of natural disasters, I firmly believe that every trade organization can find a long-term solution to climate change and make improvements from it.
