Q. Mobile phones and the internet could have many benefits for old people. However, this age group uses technology the least. What are the benefits for old people of using mobile phones and the internet? How can we encourage them to use this new technology?

The contemporary era is an era of modernization, the latest technological devices such as smartphones are an inevitable thing, especially for young people. They help the older generation to minimize laziness and communicate with others. Here I explain how it helps them discover new technologies.

To inaugurate with, the Internet on a mobile phone makes it easy for older people to have medical appointments easily. Apps are useful for getting consultations and can help them make an appointment directly over the Internet without bothering anyone. This eliminates the hassle of setting up direct appointments. For instance, my grandfather can find a doctor without my help. In addition, it helps the doctor to view all appointments together as a report instead of creating one by an assistant.

Furthermore, when a person becomes old, he retires from his job and can stay at home while his family members go to work; which creates loneliness. For example, modern gadgets with Internet access have many applications that allow you to communicate with the person on the other side through the connected network. This helps them create a direct way to communicate with their friends at no extra cost, unlike a phone call. To illustrate, my father was more likely to talk to my children via video call than to visit them directly.

To sum up, a mobile phone can be a great level of virtual assistance for elderly people. It can help to get nursing help and engage in some entertainment and news. The above mentioned scenarios encourage them to use the new technology and increase speed with it.
