Q. Solving environment problems should be the responsibility of an international organization rather than each national government. Do you agree or disagree?

There is an idea that all environmental issues should be dealt with by international organizations, instead of governments and local authorities. I disagree with this stance as everyone should save green spaces and protect the planet.

On the one hand, although it is assumed that all countries are fully aware of their own problems, they can take the most appropriate measures to address these circumstances in a holistic manner. Moreover, there is a possibility that a country's initiatives to address environmental issues are incompatible with the social context of another country. For instance, the New Zealand government has halved public transport fares to encourage passengers to take buses, trains, and ferries rather than private vehicles in an effort to reduce air pollution, fuel crises, and traffic congestion. However, this approach is not realistic in a developing country like India with a different road network and traffic volume. To illustrate, motorcycles are the most suitable means of transportation for Indians in narrow, congested streets, as buses take up too much space in urban areas and are inconvenient. Therefore, some trains in this country use diesel locomotives that emit tons of carbon dioxide, which negatively affects air quality and exacerbates noise pollution.

On the other hand, intercontinental organizations such as the United Nations must lead the way in addressing global challenges such as climate change and ozone depletion. In particular, an international effort is needed to connect all countries and promote cooperation and diplomatic solutions to global environmental threats. In addition, rich countries can help other developing regions by providing financial and technological support to combat environmental problems that can quickly spread beyond national borders.

To conclude, while international organizations can have a huge impact on a global scale, the combination of international and governmental efforts will have an even deeper impact on the environment.
