Q. Some people say that protecting the environment is the government’s responsibility. Others believe that every individual should be responsible for it. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

According to some people, the state is responsible for conserving the environment while others insist that environmental protection is the responsibility of every individual. In my opinion, the environment can be protected only through the joint efforts of both individuals and governments.

It is undeniable that we are responsible for environmental damage due to our ignorance and consumerist lifestyle. For this reason, we all have a responsibility to protect the environment, not just the government. It can be saved by making small changes to our lifestyle, such as increasing the use of public transport, properly disposing of waste, and planting trees around our premises. These are some of the ways to protect the environment.

On the other hand, the government has higher authority and power and therefore can play a more important role in protecting the environment. If governments don't take proper action to protect our habitat/planet, it can reinforce the negativity among their country's inhabitants. For example, the government should not support any industry that produces more harmful gases. At the same time, the authorities should encourage the production of "green" energy from renewable sources such as solar and hydropower. In addition, the government can include environmental protection in the primary school curriculum to spread awareness about environmental protection. However, none of these measures will be effective unless if we do not become more responsible to secure our environment.

To conclude, this essay states that people can take minor steps to secure their habitat but the government has an even bigger role in protecting the environment. This is due to the fact that environmental protection is a huge task that cannot be solved without the active participation of both the state and individuals.
