Q. The graph below gives information about car ownership in Britain from 1971 to 2007.
The given line chart illustrates the proportion of cars possessive in Britain over a period of 36 years.
In 1971, the majority of all British households did not own a car, accounting for more than half. At the same time, the share of ownership of one car was also quite high and amounted to about 44%, while only around 7% had two cars. The lowest category was families with three or more cars, and the ratio was almost zero.
The one-car household has been the most common type since the mid-1970's, although its proportion has not change as much. The biggest change in the households without cars plummeting, it fell to 25% in 2007, and in that year, it was lower than the proportion of households with two cars, which had a lower rate than it in the past, because the ratio of two-car household rapidly surged, around 27%. Lastly, the proportion of households with more than two cars steadily rose to around 6% in 2007.
Overall,
it is crystal clear that these figures had significant variations. In particular, the number of households without a car has dropped sharply and the number of households with two cars has risen sharply.
