Q. The diagrams below show the water supply system in Australia present and in future.
The diagrams illustrate how Australia's water supply system currently works and plans for future changes.
Looking at the current water supply system plan, clean water is stored in a dam and then pumped to the city for use in households, shops and factories. From the city, storm water flows directly into the river, while wastewater is sent to water treatment plants. Once processed, it can be safely released into the river.
As for the future water supply system, it can be seen that the storage of clean water in the dam and its use in the city is planned to remain unchanged. However, both waste water and storm water from the city will be directly pumped to the wastewater treatment plant for treatment. After that, both the wastewater and storm water will be recycled back for use in the city. Also, there will be no discharge of water into the river.
Overall, it is crystal clear that the most noticeable change in the water supply system of the future is the recycling of water for city use.
