Q. The diagrams below show the present and planned developments in the biomedical campus of a university.
The maps illustrate the present layout of a biomedical campus and also the changes proposed for the future.
Looking at the map in more detail, you can see that the campus is currently divided into two halves by an east-west road in the center. The northern half has a car park to the east, but the rest of the area is occupied by trees. The southern half is further divided into two halves by a north-south passage. The area to the west of the path houses the biochemistry department, while the eastern half contains the biotechnology and genetics department. Both of these zones also have laboratories.
Many changes are planned for the future. Firstly, the parking lot in the north half will be designated as a student car park, and a new triangular car park will be built in the southwest of the campus for staff. Another planned major change is the addition of a new bioimaging department in the center of the northern half. Thirdly, the departments of biotechnology and biochemistry will be expanded, and a new genetics laboratory will be built in the northeast of the campus. Finally, the road separating the two halves will be removed.
Overall, it can be seen that many changes have been planned. The fundamental change will be an increase in the number of branches and the construction of a new car park. However, due to the new additions, greenery on campus will be lost.
