Q. The bar chart shows global sales (in billions of dollars) of various types of digital games between 2000 and 2006.

The bar chart compares the global turnover of four types of electronic games over the seven years from 2000 to 2006.

In 2000, handheld game sales were close to $10 billion, a figure that gradually rose to a peak of just under $18 billion. In contrast, with sales of $6 billion, console games were the second most popular games in 2000. Between 2000 and 2006, this figure continued to decline and reached its lowest point of less than $3 billion.

Global online and mobile game sales followed a similar pattern, with both sales figures growing significantly in the first 6 years. By the seventh year, sales revenue from both types of games exceeded $6 billion.

Overall, it can be seen that the sales of most of the digital games have increased, except for console games. Handheld games had the highest sales of all time during this period.

Q. The line chart shows global population trends as a percentage from 1950 to 2040. To summarize information by selecting key characteristics and compiling a report and, if necessary, make a comparison.

The line charts detail population trends related to location and age globally from 1950 to 2040.

Turning first to urban living in 1950, this figure began the period at 6%, just 1% above the statistics for the rural population. In the years that followed, the urban population increased dramatically, increasing by about 5% every decade up to the present. This trend is expected to continue, and by 2040 the proportion of urban residents should be slightly less than 40%. The rural population, by contrast, has remained largely stable, growing by less than a percentage point every 10 years and is projected to reach 6% by 2040. The growth of general indicators roughly corresponds to the percentage of the urban population, but everywhere it is higher by 5-10%.

The age distribution clearly indicates that persons aged 15–65 years (starting at 6% in 1950) will become the most common, increasing by about 5% every decade with a likely peak of 35% by the end of the study period. Persons younger than 15 and older than 65 show a broadly similar pattern of about 5% for most of the time described.

Overall, it is clear that the urban population has and will continue to account for the bulk of the increase. In terms of age demographics, people aged 15-65 have become the largest group and are projected to remain the same in the future.
