Q. Demand for oil and gas is growing and so finding new resources in undiscovered areas is a necessity. Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?

Fossil fuel consumption is increasing worldwide. Therefore, some people believe that the extraction of fuel should be allowed in uncharted territories. I do not support this. In my perspective, our world can no longer cope with pollution and diseases. Therefore, the search for other green energy resources are more essential and vital.

To inaugurate with, a good reason for protecting undiscovered lands is that the current oil and gas consumption increasing global warming. In other words, global temperatures are gradually increasing due to the overuse of fossil fuels. As a result, humanity is faced with the threat of extinction. Moreover, if we do not stop exploiting our natural resources, the green spaces that form the lungs of our earth will shrink even further. It will also affect our health. In addition, diseases will spread faster and affect more people due to the release of toxic gases and other pollutants from factories. Another point to consider is that undiscovered land must be protected from industrial activity.

However, as we can assume, excessive dependence on fossil fuels is causing serious damage to our planet. The only solution to this problem is the development of green energy technologies. These technologies can also reduce the negative impact of polluted vapors and gases from overuse of fossil fuels. For example, in Norway, almost all car manufacturers industries run on clean energy. Some technologies maintain better environmental conditions and, in the long run, will also be cheaper than traditional sources. This, in turn, will lower the cost of production and make goods and products cheaper and more affordable.

To conclude, fossil fuels are beneficial; however, they also have a negative impact on the environment. Therefore, I am convinced that instead of exploring uncharted lands in search of oil and gas, we should invest in green energy technologies to make them more accessible.
