In the IELTS exam, you can improve your level and reach band 9 by using more unique vocabulary words and phrases in your writing. In this article, I will elaborate on Advanced Vocabulary Words for IELTS. How do you use these words in your exam?

The Lexical Resource measures your ability to use a wide range of vocabulary without error and in the proper context in your writing, speaking, listening and reading. In other words, only vocabulary is not enough to achieve your desired band score. However, using a variety of new vocabulary words that will really help you get your desire score and increase your lexical resource score.

To successfully pass IELTS exam, it is best to utilize your words accurately. By this I mean that you have to be able to use the wide range of vocabulary words for every situation, not the wrong word. It may seem obvious, but in fact, many IELTS test takers are obsessed with learning as many words as possible and don't get hung up on how to utilize those word correctly. The problem is, you may have learned an interesting words, but if it's used incorrectly in your writing module, it's just another disadvantage in your writing that could lead to a drop in your grade. 

Basically, students often write passages utilizing the most advanced vocabulary words to impress the examiner, but this forces them to form completely incorrect sentences. Sometimes there are so many inaccuracies that it is impossible to read a complete sentence that helps them to get good grades.

It is crucial to have a “wide vocabulary” and lack of it will result in a lower range score. On the other hand, it is essential to remember that no special knowledge is required to take IELTS. You will never have to face the question of knowing complex scientific terms or explaining complex economic concepts in words. Having a "real" range means that your words can cover a topic without confusing the reader.
