IELTS Speaking Part 1 - Questions & Answers

In the first part of the IELTS speaking test, the examiner will ask 4-6 general questions on familiar situations or topics. The examiner is expected to introduce himself first and ask for your name and then ask for your identity proof.

Speaking questions in this part include familiar topics such as hometown, family, education, work, and habits. The first part of the test will last 4-6 minutes.

Usually the examiner asks for your name first. He/she will then ask you to present your identity (in this case, your passport) and find out what you do, where you are from, and a few warm up questions to commence a conversation.

Some of these general questions are listed below:
Q. Good morning. My name is Hardeep Singh. May I know your name?
Q. What about your candidate's number?
